Earth Day is a wonderful time to read books about saving our planet. Here are some can't miss books, along with teacher's guides:

1. "Who Will Plant a Tree" by Jerry Pallotta is an engaging tale about creatures great and small who all help plant a tree. There is a useful teacher's guide for this book (find this and others at the end of this article) with printable review sheets, writing tips and much more. The free teacher's guide is a fantastic way to folow up on learning after reading this timely book.

2. "S is for Save the Planet" by Brad Herzog is an excellent book for younger elementary homeschoolers to review the alphabet, in a green way. Environmental issues are presented in a friendly way, and the free 27 page teacher's guide is a blessing.

3. "The Lorax" is a Dr. Seuss classic that children of all ages can enjoy. The corresponding website, listed below, offers a downloadable guide, plus games and activities to round out your reading.

4. "Hoot" by Carl Hiaasen is an amazing read for older homescoolers. The teachers guide is a free resource offering vocabulary suggestions, mutli subject tie-in lessons and more. This book is perfect for the tween or teen that is interested in caring for the animals and wildlife in today's world.
