Animation Made Easy Apple Keynote by Ahmad Ghassan
In this Skillshare course entitled Animation Made Easy With Apple Keynote by Ahmad Ghassan, you will learn how versatile Apple Keynote is for creating animation for your projects. Ghassan begins with an overview of the types of animations he will cover in the course, using mostly Keynote and finishing in Apple Motion.

As with most courses about animation, Ghassan takes you on a tour of the Keynote interface and the animation tools. He also explains the basics of the Build In, Build Out and Actions panels. After the tour is over, its time to draw.

Ghassan begins by demonstrating how to use the drawing, shapes and masking tools. When he is finished, he has drawn the design elements for creating the animations.

Working on the first slide, Ghassan demonstrates how to add a background color, import an image containing several design elements and how to use the Instant Alpha tool to remove all the design elements not needed for the project. Next he demonstrates how to divide a single design element in to two pieces for animation.

For the second slide in the project, Ghassan uses the Break Apart feature to customize several shapes from the Shapes Library for animation. He also demonstrates how to mask a imported photo with a shape.

The next task is to create a new stand alone animation. Ghassan adds one of the animal shapes from the library to a slide, customizes the shape by adding a hand draw tail and animates the tail to wag. He exports the looped animation as a video with a transparent background, to be imported in to the main project.

For the next slide, Ghassan demonstrates how to import a pre-recorded video to play on the slide and how to resize and mask the video to display within a picture of an iPhone. He also demonstrates how to use the Media Placeholder feature to save time by creating a custom template.

Digging deeper in to the animation features, Ghassan discusses the difference between the Build In, Build Out and Actions options. He also discusses how to apply multiple actions to one object, rearrange the build order and use motion paths. Next he covers the Magic Move feature to create a motion tween and how to play a looping animation, the dog animation, across slides.

Now its time to export from Keynote and move in to Apple Motion. Ghassan then discusses how to import your project file in to Motion, add and sync a narrative or background music track to the video and export the final project in the H.264 format.

Ahmad Ghassan is an Art Dirrector with a background in Architectural Engineering and Graphic Design.
